Kurt R. Ward has a Civil Litigation Practice that includes areas such as ERISA (i.e., employee benefits), disability insurance, personal injury, wrongful death and contracts & general business. Mr. Ward is also skilled at estate planning in the areas of complex wills, living trusts, tax shelter trusts, special needs trusts, power(s) of attorney, and probate.
Born in Decatur, Georgia, Kurt R. Ward is a native of Atlanta. He received his undergraduate degree at Baylor University (1994) and juris doctorate degree at the Georgia State University College of Law (2001). While in law school, Mr. Ward served as: the Peach Sheets co-editor on the Georgia State Law Review; a pupil in the Bleckley Inn of Court; a member of the Georgia State Mock Trial Team (2000 Daniel {National Semi-Finalist} & 2001 ATLA {Regional Champion}); a Certified Mediator for the Fulton County State and Magistrate Court; a research assistant to Dean Griffith; and a Torts tutor to first year law students. Kurt also placed 2nd in the American Judges Association National Writing Competition (2000), submitting an article on Video-conferencing v. The Constitutional Right to Face an Accuser.
Before attending law school, Mr. Ward managed and implemented logistical operations for various political and sporting events, such as: the NFL Super Bowl (1995 to 2000); the 1996 Centennial Olympics in Atlanta; White House advance for the Presidential Inaugural; White House advance for the 1997 Denver Summit of the G-8 Nations; and the 1998 Goodwill Games in New York.
Mr. Ward currently enjoys serving as an annual volunteer chairman for the Chick-fil-A Bowl. From 2004 to 2007, Mr. Ward served as a coach for the High School Mock Trial team at The Paideia School, which won its regional competition three out of those four years and, in 2006, placed 2nd in the State of Georgia. Mr. Ward currently serves as a coach for the High School Mock Trial team at Dunwoody High School. He is also a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association.
